Just about every brand that builds something with a microchip you can buy at a big box store makes a bluetooth speaker. Just in case you haven’t figured it out yet, most of them suck. And the ones that don’t are so prohibitively expensive that you’d be insane to buy them. Then there’s the fact that it’s still bluetooth, so the range isn’t going to get any better. The entire system needs to be rethought, and that’s exactly what Rocki did with the Play system. One smartphone sized dongle that you connect to speakers, any speakers, with a standard 3.5mm cable and pipe audio to with a WiFi connection. No bluetooth range issues. No carrying around additional hardware. No taking out a second mortgage. Hell, for $49 each you could put one in every single room in your house providing they already have speakers.

Unzip your coat and have some mulled wine on the house—you’ve arrived at your final gifting destination: The Holiday Gift Guide. It’s like your friendly neighborhood one-stop holiday shop, except instead of balsa wood ornaments, ours is packed with thoughtful gifts for everyone on your list. Future heirlooms, small-but-significant stocking stuffers, and gear for getting out there (or staying in)—are all right here. There’s no music playing in the background though, so you’ll just have to hum Bing Crosby while you click around instead.
