Every Apple keynote event is sure to be filled with new releases to get Apple fans excited, but few recent events compare to all the new hardware that dropped earlier this week. Apple dropped details on four new iPhones, three new Apple Watches, new AirPods Pro, and a few software updates as well. Here’s everything Apple announced during the iPhone 14 Launch Event.
iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max
The most significant releases of the event–and the ones that are sure to please the most people–are the iPhone 14 Pro models. Yes, it has a blistering new processor, 48-megapixel main camera, 2x telephoto lens, improved ultra-wide lens, and the largest sensor ever in an iPhone. There are also new colors, ProMotion, crash detection, MagSafe, and new safety features. But the biggest update is the replacement of the dreaded “notch” at the top of the screen in favor of “Dynamic Island,” a dedicated software notification space that also doubles as the physical location for the selfie and Face ID cameras. The iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999 and the Pro Max at $1099 (no price hike on base models), both available for pre-order on September 9th and shipping on September 16th.
iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus
While the non-Pro iPhone 14 models don’t do away with the “notch,” they are packed with all kinds of upgrades that make them worth investing in. For starters, the 14 has a 6.1″ screen, and the 14 Plus has a 6.7″ display. They’re both packing Apple’s new A15 Bionic processor, improved cameras, crash detection, a ceramic coating, and Apple’s longest-lasting battery life ever. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are both available for preorder now in five colors starting at $799 and $899, respectively. The iPhone 14 begins shipping this month, but the iPhone 14 Plus won’t ship until October.
Apple Watch Ultra
There’s no questioning Apple’s claims that the new Apple Watch Ultra would be “the most rugged and capable Apple Watch ever” after seeing this thing. The Ultra pairs the familiar, sleek Apple Watch exterior with a robust titanium case that’s built to protect from edge impacts, a larger digital crown (easier to use while wearing gloves), and a new action button for physical control over customizable functions. It’s rounded out with a precision dual-frequency GPS, dual speakers, and a brighter, always-on display so you can use it anywhere (including while diving) for up to 36 hours on a single charge. The Apple Watch Ultra is available now.
Apple Watch Series 8
Don’t let the fact it looks the same on the outside fool you, the Apple Watch Series 8 is leaps and bounds better than the Series 7. The cornerstone of the Apple Watch Series 8 upgrades are the new sensors for better insights into your overall health, wellness, and fitness. The sleep tracking and ECGs are better. The workout app has been enhanced. It’s also packing a 36-hour battery, improved gyroscope, and accelerometer that helps with the new crash detection safety features. The Apple Watch Series 8 is available now in almost endless combinations of colors/band options. It begins shipping on September 16th.
Apple Watch SE
Apple’s most affordable Apple Watch yet, the Apple Watch SE shares a lot with the Series 8 in the looks department because they’re both based on the Series 7. It might look the same as its predecessor, but it has a few notable upgrades on the inside of the new case colors. Powerful new sensors for health and fitness updates, crash detection safety features, and improved connectivity are now powered by a faster dual-core processor making sure you get all your updates right on your wrist and look good in the process. The Apple Watch SE is available now and will begin shipping on September 16th.
New AirPods Pro (2nd Generation)
They might look the same on the outside, but the latest edition of AirPods Pro were re-engineered “from the sound up” for the richest audio experience yet. Next-level Active Noise Cancellation is paired with Adaptive Transparency to reduce as much external noise as possible while the Spatial Audio tech immerses you like never before. They also get 6 hours of use from a single charge and have better touch controls. The AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) are available for order now with delivery on September 23rd.
