Atari Is Back With a Brand-New Game

Atari Is Back With a Brand-New Game

Introducing the retro gaming revival we’ve all been waiting for–Atari is back with a blast from the past! Get ready to immerse yourself in the nostalgia of the ’80s as the legendary gaming company unleashes a brand new cartridge for the iconic Atari 2600 console. Mr. Run and Jump is a brand new Atari-published platformer video game that will be available for vintage Atari consoles in cartridge form. The cartridge will be available to pre-order starting July 31st for $60 and is set to come with with a box and instruction manual.

Atari’s latest release pays homage to its own legacy, capturing the essence of the golden era and bringing it into the present day. The Atari Mr. Run and Jump cartridge will be a fully playable game in its own right but is also clearly a clever marketing plan. Atari will also be releasing a much more polished version of Mr. Run and Jump for PCs and all major game consoles on July 25. Nonetheless, the Atari 2600 cartridge release will make for an impressive collector’s item. According to the company, Mr. Run and Jump will be “the first 2600 cartridge launch for a new Atari title since 1990.”

Whether you’re an avid collector, a seasoned gamer, or simply seeking a taste of the past, Atari’s new 2600 cartridge promises to transport you to a time where pixels reigned supreme and gaming was an adventure like no other.
