Fear not, Midwest Winter Storm affected people with infinitely delayed United States Postal Service packages, the USPS is set to roll out a whole new line of Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDV) in conjunction with Oshkosh Defense as part of a $482 million investment to revolutionize the way packages are delivered. Each one of the 50,000 – 165,000 vehicles that will be built over the next decade features purpose-built, right-hand drive specifications for mail and package delivery, and they’ll be equipped with either fuel-efficient combustion engines or battery electric powertrains to maximize their effectiveness over the course of their useful life. While this capital investment is “part of the soon-to-be-released, 10-year plan to transform USPS into the preferred delivery service provider for the American public,” we’re just optimistic that this kind of innovation leads to our mail being delivered at all–let alone on time.
