When you think of the name Carroll Shelby, the first few things that pop into your head are probably the GT350, GT500 and the 427 Cobra. While there are plenty of concepts the late mastermind developed that never saw production, we’ve always been particularly enthralled with the Ford Shelby GR-1 concept that was unveiled in 2004 at Pebble Beach. It never saw production at the time, but California-based builder Superformance wants to change that. They’re still working on finalizing the licensing deal with the blue oval that’s been in the works for years, but if they get their way, they’ll be producing 200 aluminum GR-1s that would have made Shelby himself proud. All of the details are still being finalized, but there are reports that their will be both gas and electric options capable of hitting 60 mph from a stop in two seconds. Here’s hoping we’ll all finally be able to see this beauty on the street.
