Monarch Is Making the Smartest, Fully Electric, Autonomous Tractor

We don’t generally find ourselves concerned with the comings and goings of the farming industry, but a few weeks ago, Monarch introduced “the world’s first fully electric, driver optional, smart tractor integrated on a single platform.” This is the kind of innovation we will throw ourselves behind, regardless of the industry it’s related to, but especially when it’s something as nationally integral and essential as the world of farming. That brings us back full circle to the Monarch Electric Tractor. The “world’s smartest tractor” has plenty of space for a driver, but it doesn’t really need it with the 360-degree cameras, sensors, autonomous navigation software, pre-programmed tasks and remote-controlled “shadow mode.” In other words, it’s certainly possible to operate this 70hp electric powertrain tractor with a living human behind the wheel, but it’s just as easy–if not easier–to do it all remotely or on a fly-by-wire style interface. Regardless of how you’re using it, it’s a good-looking, modern tractor whether it’s piloted by a human or a computer.
