This rare bike is no street-legal vintage Harley Sportster. It’s a rare Sportster XLR 883 that was created for “TT” scramble races where builds were light and engine displacement was kept under 900cc. The XLR 883 had no lights and the engine was retooled for more power to the tune of 70 to 80 horses. The frame used a higher-grade tubular steel frame with thinner walls that helped cut weight. It had no amenities or road-going features that would’ve added weight. Furthermore, holes were drilled in various parts to shed even more weight. The bike weighs in at only 355 pounds. Only a few hundred of these were ever made. The auction has ended, and the bike remains unsold, so there’s still a chance.
