Prodrive–one of the world’s most successful multi-disciplinary race outfits–has partnered with Mumtalakat–the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain–to create an entirely new race team called Bahrain Raid Xtreme (BRX for short) that will be competing starting with the Dakar Rally in 2021. What do you do when you have all the pedigree, experience and money? You hire the best of the best, including getting former Jaguar designer Ian Callum to design the bespoke livery you’re going to build for the race. It’s called the BRX Hunter T1, and we expect this Halo-esque automobile to trounce the landscapes of Dakar in ways we haven’t seen before. The exterior of the unique off-roader is constructed out of a combination for steel and carbon fiber, and it will be powered by a 3.5-liter turbo-charged Ford V6 producing 400hp that’s mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. Two BRX Hunter T1s make their debuts on the Arabian peninsula during the 2021 Dakar Rally. One will be piloted by Sebastien Loeb, and the other will be piloted by Nani Roma.
