There’s an Anthony Bourdain Documentary in the Works

As you’re well aware by this point, we’re big fans of all thing Anthony Bourdain. Rewatching Our 10 Favorite Episodes of Anthony Bourdain’s TV Shows and going cover to cover through Anthony Bourdain Remembered somewhat fills the void when it comes to unique storytelling, but we want more original content that delves into the story behind the man. We’re in luck because CNN Films just announced an upcoming documentary in partnership with HBO Max and Focus Features. The as-of-yet untitled film–We vote for “I took a walk in this beautiful world”–will be directed by Academy Award-winner Morgan Neville who is responsible the Mr. Rogers documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor? and a few episodes of Abstract: The Art of Design, among other things. Neville had this to say about the project, “Anthony Bourdain did more to help us understand each other than just about anyone in the history of television. He connected with people not in spite of his flaws, but because of them. To have the opportunity to tell his story is humbling.” In addition to Neville, Bourdain’s collaborators Lydia Tenaglia and Christopher Collins from Zero Point Zero Productions and Kimberly Witherspoon, his agent and literary executor, are attached to the project. The man himself might not be around to participate, but his legacy is in good hands with this team.
