There’s a ‘Game of Thrones’ Documentary Airing the Week After the Finale

In less than two weeks, the final season of Game of Thrones will premiere on HBO complete with tie-ins ranging from adidas sneakers to 2lb chocolate dragon eggs. If you’re worried about the six episode Season 8 not being enough to fill your undying love for everyone’s favorite fantasy TV show, fear not! HBO just announced that on May 26th, the week after the series finale, they’ll be airing a special feature documentary that chronicles the making of the final season. Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is a two-hour feature directed by acclaimed British filmmaker Jeanie Finlay and executive produced by showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Here’s what HBO had to say about it: “Made with unprecedented access, Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is an up-close and personal report from the trenches of production, following the crew and the cast as they contend with extreme weather, punishing deadlines and an ever-excited fandom hungry for spoilers. Much more than a “making of” documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world — and then have to say goodbye to it.” Even if it means the end of the series as a whole, we can’t wait to see it.
