If you’re a New Yorker or just have a photographic knowledge of NYC and its history, you can do the New York Public Library a solid by checking out Surveyor. Surveyor is a new tool that allows users to geotag random photos of NYC past. Since the library has many photos they can’t quite place, they’ve turned to the public for assistance, which could either be really beneficial or horrendously terrible. Upon landing on the site, users will be greeted with a random photo in need of info. If you help out you get a brief “Thank You” note with an image of an animal and a point added to your score. No idea why you need a score but we’ll assume you can redeem those points for Chinese finger traps and bouncy balls. Or, you know, just do it to help out.
