Hip Hop Stamps

While we don’t collect anywhere near enough stamps to consider ourselves real collectors or members of a Philatelic Society, we can definitely appreciate great pieces of tiny art. The United States Postal Service has done quite a few interesting collaborative pieces over the years like the Eames stamps and the recent 50th Anniversary Apollo 11 stamps. Those classics will now be joined by four stamps released in collaboration with the Universal Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx. The pane of 20 stamps is divided into four separate repeating pieces that feature the four elements of hip hop: MCing,  b-boying, DJing and graffiti art. Each one of the bold, digitally tinted images on the stamps are intended to appear in motion by being rendered in a vivid yellow, black, green and red color scheme that kind of has the appearance of a 3D-image seen without the special glasses. The Universal Hip Hop Museum x USPS Forever Stamps will be unveiled digitally today with a physical roll-out to follow after.
