Ducati, apparently, wants to take over the Dakar Rally again with its first true adventure bike. The DesertX draws design inspiration from upright-riding Ducati-powered motos that won the Dakar Rally in ’90 and ’94, and it’s not just the looks. It has the guts to take on the rough stuff, including a rugged new chassis, full skid plate, long-travel suspension, all-terrain tires, rally exhaust, quick shifter, off-road riding modes, and Brembo brakes. It also boasts a color TFT display, and a six-axis Bosch electronics package with engine braking, wheelie, slide, and traction control functions. Look for the new 2022 DesertX to start selling in late spring of 2022.
