While there are some that might argue against the claim, the Ford GT40 is the first American-made race car ever made. It crushed Le Mans and, ultimately, its way into the record books with its startling performance and striking looks. And now, UK-based Tom Hartley Jnr has gotten their hands on one of just 30 street legal versions of the 1966 GT40 MK1s and posted it for sale. Being one of thirty, more than fifty years old and in pristine condition is more than enough reason to make anyone with deep enough pockets swoon, but it just gets better with this particular example. In addition to that pedigree, this particular vehicle is rolled-off-the-line factory-spec–including the 4.7-liter V8 powerplant mated to a manual transmission that develops 306hp and 329 ft-lbs of torque–and is the only original model decked out in the Warwick Green paint job that it still wears, gorgeously, to this day. While there’s no specific price–or expectation of price–listed for the vehicle, given the previous sales figures and this example’s pedigree, we expect the final price to be in at least the tens of millions.
