2021 BMW R18

2021 BMW R18

BMW’s new cruiser is here, and it should make you forget about their forgettable R1220C from a couple of decades ago. This time, it has all the right nostaglic BMW looks paired with the brand’s biggest boxer moto engine ever made, to the tune of 1,802 ccs. Not only is it meant to go after the likes of Harley-Davidson and Indian, but it also pays homage to the venerable boxer motor. The vintage-style Beemer tank is clad in black with the requisite striping and screw-on BMW Roundel. The beefy front forks are wrapped in period-correct covers, and the huge motor is on display for all to behold. The German cruiser also gets ample chrome everywhere, including the massively bulbous exhaust pipes, LED lighting, and wiring internally routed in the handlebars for an uncluttered look. The R18 comes standard with ABS, switchable automatic stability control, three riding modes, and a brilliant electronically controlled anti-slip feature to prevent skids under hard acceleration. Options include heated grips, hill start assist, and an electric motor reverse gear. The R18 will also be highly customizable with gobs of aftermarket bits to make it look even more special. The R18 goes on sale as a “First Edition” initially with metallic paint, additional chrome, and special badging.
