The Gakken Easy Record Maker Cuts and Plays Vinyl

The Gakken Easy Record Maker Cuts and Plays Vinyl

Long before we were stuck at home regularly, there was a huge resurgence in the popularity of vinyl. Now that convenience and portability of smartphone music isn’t really something that factors into listening decisions, you have more reason than ever to get into vinyl records. That’s where Gakken’s Easy Record Maker, aka the Adult Science Magazine Toy Record Maker, comes in. This tiny device might look like your average record player–it can play commercially available 7″ EPs if that’s your jam–but what makes it truly notable is the fact that it lets you record your own mini 5″ records as easily as making a mix tape of old. Load up one of the included black or white blanks, set the cutting needle, connect your audio source and then push play. If you record at 33 RPM you’ll get 4 minutes per side, and 45 RPM will get you approximately 3 mins per side. You can finally make your own records at home affordably.
