Instead of wading through the massive amount of new app releases searching for a few diamonds in the rough, just let us be your guide. This is a collection of our favorite new apps for both iOS and Android for your downloading pleasure.
AlarmMon
If you’re anything like us, waking up in the morning is about as easy as solving calculus equations without any coffee while hungover. But the entire experience can be just a little bit easier with AlarmMon. The recently updated app skips the traditional snooze button in favor of a short game that you have to complete in order to shut the alarm off. With multiple games based on cute characters, AlarmMon has at least one game to guarantee you’ll never miss an important meeting (and/or wake up the rest of the family / friends / neighbors) again. You can even earn coins to gamble after your games because who doesn’t like hitting the slots at seven o’clock in the morning. iOS | Android
Hater
If we’re being completely honest, our extreme like of experimental, skill-based bar sports and post-impressionist painting is completely outweighed by our complete disdain for slow walkers and Nickelback when it comes to matters of the heart. For all of you out there that would rather find your special someone based on a shared interest interest in something you hate, there’s Hater, a new app that lets you swipe based on the things you completely loathe rather than the ones you love. From Fedoras to Clippy the Paperclip, you’ll be matched with your future significant other on mutual hatred. iOS
Color by Disney
Yes, this is a full-fledged adult coloring book app by the one and only creator of pretty much every greatest kid’s movie ever. Color by Disney combines coloring experiences from your favorite Disney & Pixar characters to create a relaxing experience that’s probably safe for kids but is truly designed for adults that just need a break during the day to blow off some steam while coloring memorable scenes ranging from The Lion King to Monsters Inc. iOS | Android
Pixabay
Pixabay is your one stop shop for free photos, clipart, vector graphics and video clips all licensed under the Creative Commons setup that makes them free for commercial use with no attribution required. This app isn’t going to be useful for everyone, but for those of you that want fast, swipeable search with a user-friendly interface, one-click image viewing and direct downloads of over one million of the coolest images out there, Pixabay is for you. iOS | Android
Handle
Somewhere between Mailbox and Wunderlist you will find Handle, the to-do list, inbox and calendar management app that aims to streamline your life in terms of what you need to accomplish today, tomorrow and beyond. Based on three simple functions (Capture, Organize, Focus), Handle lets you turn e-mails into to-dos, schedule and prioritize those to-dos, add reminders and due dates, and then view everything on your calendar so you can get a “handle” on all your upcoming stuff. iOS | Android
Bitesnap
Unless you’re spending multiple hours a day cooking all of your meals, packaging them and recording all the important information, meal tracking is bound to fail. But it doesn’t have to with Bitesnap, the Photo Food Journal that makes meal tracking easy. Whether you’re tabulating a hearty breakfast of fruits and oatmeal, a health fruit smoothie snack or cheating on an enormous burger, Bitesnap tracks what you eat just by taking a picture. Snap that pic, confirm a few details and Bitesnap handles all the nitty gritty to help you track calories and nutrients without constantly having to enter everything by hand. iOS | Android
UltraWeather
Every month brings plenty of new weather apps for both iPhone and Android, but few are as simple and pretty and UltraWeather. The simple app displays accurate hourly, daily and 10-day forecasts in an easy to digest, card style format with detailed current conditions like “real feel,” temperature and humidity. You’ll also get access to sunrise and sunset times, background shade changing based on temperature and multiple locations with nothing more than few clicks. UltraWeather isn’t doing anything revolutionary, but it’s definitely displaying the normal in a way more beautiful than the alternatives. iOS
Time Turner
Time Turner is a puzzle game that forces you to “think in the future.” Basically, you need to solve challenging puzzles with previous versions of your self in a game that plays out like a combination of Marble Madness, Minecraft and Lemmings. This is one of those games that’s easy to start playing but will take more lunch breaks than you ever imagined to complete, because it’s fun, addictive, difficult and will keep you coming back for more.
