Helicopter Glamping Is Now a Thing in Scotland

Pack your bags and book your airfare because Helicopter Glamping is now a thing in Scotland. On the Mains Farm Wigwams’ Campsite in the Carse of Stirling you’ll find a decommissioned Royal Navy Sea King helicopter that was picked up at auction by one enterprising couple and turned into an Airbnb straight out of your childhood dreams. Martyn and Louise Steedman, owners of Mains Farm Wigwams, spent more than a year converting the dilapidated chopper into a modern dwelling complete with WiFi, mini kitchen, cockpit lounge and a shower room. The interior was transformed from spartan and utilitarian to luxurious and bright with a combination of paint, wood and boat building techniques, and the exterior was given a treatment as well with fresh paint, restored lights and a new set of rotors. The copter can accommodate up to two adults and three kids with the double bed, convertible bed/seating area and a single bed in the tail. We’ve seen plenty of cool building transformations over the years but never anything like a helicopter turned into an Airbnb.
