Volvo has always been a brand that built automobiles more focused on safety and comfort than speed and style. This isn’t a bad thing, but it’s also why Volvo is the brand you probably associate with station wagons. Volvo is bringing back the station wagon in a big way with the new V60 they made with performance tuning shop Polestar. More shooting brake than it is wagon, this car will change the way you think about Volvo. For starters, it’s a hybrid, but not just for fuel consumption and range purposes. This V60 has a T8 powertrain that combines a turbocharged and supercharged 2-liter inline four in the front and dual electric motors in the rear. By their powers combined, you get a total of 415hp and 494 lb-ft of torque, which is absurd in a car large enough to schlep the entire family, the dog, luggage and golf clubs every weekend. You can’t have that kind of power without some other serious upgrades, so the V60 also got an Ohlins suspension, Brembo calipers, an upgraded suspension and front strut bar. It doesn’t hurt that they gave the new V60 a cosmetic facelift with alloy wheels, new grill, gloss black accents and an interior as sleek and stylish as anything else on the market.
