Three Stainless Steel Ford Cars Are Heading to Auction

If we asked you to think about stainless steel cars, it’s a relatively safe bet that the first, and only, place your mind would go is the DeLorean. Honestly, we couldn’t fault you because the DeLorean is the only “modern” stainless steel car that comes to mind even though it’s decades old. But there are other stainless cars that are much, much older. Almost a century ago, Ford entered into a partnership with Allegheny Ludlum Steel to create a stainless steel version of the 1936 Ford Deluxe Sedan. Almost twenty-five years later, they teamed up again to build some stainless 1960 Ford Thunderbirds. Years later, they combined their powers once again to create a stainless 1967 Lincoln Continental Convertible. As you might expect, there aren’t many of these examples left almost a lifetime later, but there’s at least one pristine example of each that’s heading to auction during Worldwide’s annual Auburn Auction, held over Labor Day Weekend in Indiana on September 5th. While no pricing has been revealed as of yet, we expect the collection to fetch north of at least a million bucks.
