This Bertone 1967 Jaguar Pirana Is Going to Auction

The 1967 Jaguar Pirana Coupe by Bertone is, quite frankly, one of the weirdest concepts ever produced. Despite being built on commission for the Daily Telegraph for the 1967 London Motor show at Earl’s Court, and going on to influence the Lamborghini Espada that would also be produced by Bertone, this particular automobile seems to have a lot more in common with the fastback American cars that would come only a few years later. That same low slung, rear heavy design. Big windows. Plenty of louvers. Sleek, simple and sloping design. It’s an obscure piece of motoring history complete with an interior filled with plenty of leather and even more switches and gauges that RM Sotheby’s is auctioning off later this year. This 1967 Jaguar Pirana by Bertone rolls across the block during the RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction from August 15 – 17 in Monterey, California. The auction also includes the 1939 Porsche Type 64 Coupe and the Jaguar XJ13 reproduction identical to the Le Mans original. It’s going to be one helluva sale.
