This 1972 Jeep Commando Is Going to Auction

The late 1960s was filled with fantastic vintage SUVs that, to this day, outshine most modern options. We’re talking about your Chevy Blazers, your Ford Bronco, your International Scouts and all the other options in that light yet capable category. The Jeepster Commando was designed and built by Kaiser Jeep to compete with those vehicles. AMC acquired Kaiser Jeep in 1970 and immediately redesigned the vehicle into the 1972 Jeep Commando you see here. With a full-grill Jeep front, mid-section that resembles the popular two-door SUVs of the time and an angular rear that most closely resembles the Gremlin, it’s a vintage truck that has a loot all its own. This particular iteration with it’s 150 hp, 304 cu. in. V8 with automatic transmission is from The Route 66 Packard Museum Collection and is heading to an RM Sotheby’s auction later this month. RM Sotheby’s Auburn Spring Auction taking place in Indiana from May 29 – June 1. It’s expected to fetch somewhere between $20K and $25K.
