When Tesla first introduced the Model S, in 2012, it boasted 382 hp and a 0-60 time in the mid-5s. Seriously respectable for an electric sedan but nowhere near what the new Tesla Model S P100D race car offers. The modified P100D packs a ridiculous 778 ponies under the hood and can hit 60 in two seconds. By stripping away a cool 1,000+ pounds, the folks at Tesla were able to best the P100D’s Ludicrous mode’s 2.5 second 0-60 time. The electric rocket, which made its debut at the Autosport International show this past Thursday, will see action in the Electric GT Championship later this year.
