In a world of high-powered motorcycles that weigh more than your mother-in-law after the holidays, a vintage 250cc ultra-light moto might just elicit guffaws of condescension at the local biker bar, unless its one previously owned by the king of cool, Steve McQueen. This Swedish-built 1971 Husqvarna 250 Cross is motorcycling retro goodness without even trying. McQueen’s moto racing friend, Malcolm Smith fell in love with the bike and the brand. McQueen followed suit after filming On Any Sunday with Smith and bought this very bike. It’s been fully restored to its original condition with brushed aluminum everywhere, its perfect single seat, and original tank. To give you perspective on the value of the McQueen name, a 250 Cross in pristine condition will run about $7K. This one is expected to command seven times that number when Bonhams puts it up for sale at the Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction on January 24th.
