ROD Cycles out of Paraguay is an up-an-coming urban bike builder who’s going to change the way you think about bicycles with a focus on design more common in the world of four wheelers. The latest creation to roll out of their shop is the Model 2, a sleek and stylish bicycle with a unique hand-built frame and a monoplate drivetrain with 8 speeds. But the first thing you’re going to notice about the bike is you can see through the frame more than normal thanks to the seat post setup. In addition to cutting out some apparently unnecessary weight, the intentional lack of a full length seat post gives the bike a much more rhomboid geometry overall. This makes the Model 2 look like it’s travelling at speed even when it’s at a complete standstill, which is just one aspect it shares with automotive design. Here’s hoping the Model 2 eventually makes it stateside because we’d love to take one around the block.
