Ringbrothers Coyogar 1968 Mercury Cougar

Ringbrothers Coyogar 1968 Mercury Cougar

Wisconsin-based custom car builder Ringbrothers might have just pulled off the best restomod we’ve seen this year, and it’s largely because it’s not a vintage Mustang, Challenger, or a Camaro. The 1968 Mercury Cougar is from the now-defunct brand’s first and best generation model. Not only is it a frame-off restoration, but the “Coyogar” gets its name from the new naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter Ford Coyote V8 (from an F-150 Raptor). The Coyogar even gets a modern 10-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters. Other tasty ingredients include a custom DSE suspension kit, three-piece forged alloy wheels, and upgraded brakes. The body has been repainted in a rich Augusta Green Metallic paint, and the interior has been refurbished to its original style and luster, albeit the modern shifter is in stark contrast with the vintage digs. But who really cares, since this thing will move with the best of ’em.
