Pininfarina’s Electric Hypercar Will Do 0-62 in Under 2 Seconds

Pininfarina’s Electric Hypercar Will Do 0-62 in Under 2 Seconds

When Tesla announced their next-generation Roadster would hit 60 from a standstill in under 2 seconds, we thought that would be the end of the electric speed wars for a few years. We were wrong. Automobili Pininfarina just announced they’re also building an electric car that will hit 62 miles an hour (they measured 0-100 km/h) in under 2 seconds, and it’s also coming in 2020. The Pininfarina name is familiar to any of you fascinated by Ferrari design or those of you who grew up with a Testarossa poster hanging on the bedroom wall, but this isn’t exactly the same company. Automobili Pininfarina is a stand-alone brand that’s also going to be making full-electric SUVs to compete with Bentley and Range Rover, and it’s a subsidiary of Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra, which purchased a controlling stake in the design house in 2015. Regardless of the people behind the badge, the new hypercar will have that absurd drag time, a 300 mile range and a price tag of nearly 2 million euros. You know, assuming it actually gets made.
