Mercedes ‘Red Pig’ Sedan

As the story goes, in 1971, a small and as-of-yet-unheard-of German racing outfit named after the two founding engineers–Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach–entered into the Spa Francorchamps 24 hours race with a Mercedes-Benz SEL300 6.3 sedan affectionately referred to as the Red Pig because of it’s incredible color scheme and “portly stature,” this incredible vehicle would go on to take second overall in the race. What’s more important is that the guys that built it would go on to build their company–now known as AMG–into what would ultimately be the performance arm of Mercedes as a whole. Now, Arthur Bechtel Classic Motors Is Recreating Mercedes Iconic ‘Red Pig’ Sedan complete with 6.3-liter V8, 250+ HP, over 350 lb-ft of torque, six-speed manual or automatic transmission options and the impressive, bright red paint job that makes this vehicle more than live up to its name. Even though it’s going to cost you significantly more than a Tesla, and it won’t beat it off the line or in a straight, there’s something to be said for the old school and classic style that this vehicle possesses.
