Leave it to the madmen at Mercedes to take an E-Class wagon and turn it into a badass all-terrain 4×4 beast. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain 4×4² Concept started as a standard E-Class All-Terrain that evolved into what you see here when one particular engineer, Jürgen Eberle, decided to upgrade the existing wagon with a laundry list of the things we’d only do in our heads. First you have to upgrade the ride hide and the stance with a 1.5″ suspension lift and an 8″ wider stance covered by carbon fiber fender flares. And you obviously need more absurd ties, so throw on some 20″ off-road rubber. Almost sixteen inches of ground clearance, a wider track and beefier tires weren’t enough, so Eberle also decided to add the portal axle technology from the G500 4×4² and 6×6. Sure, you don’t get locking diffs, a low range gearbox or a diesel engine, but you do get a 3.5-liter turbo V6 outputting 326 horsepower to a mean looking ride that can tackle almost twenty inches of water. This is an off-road concept that you could use during the apocalypse and still take to a nice dinner… if it ever gets produced.
