McLaren just released details on the successor to the McLaren P1, the all new McLaren Senna. Named for legendary F1 driver Ayrton Senna, this new ultimate driving machine is “legalized for road use, but not sanitized to suit it,” as the company says. In other words, the Senna takes traditional McLaren—extreme styling and even more extreme performance—to an even higher apex than we’ve seen before. At 2,641lbs, it’s the lightest since the McLaren F1. When you factor in the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 789bhp and 590 lb ft (most powerful McLaren road car internal combustion engine ever) with the light weight, it’s easy to see why the power-to-weight ratio is described as delivering “savage performance.” All 500 of the limited Ultimate Series McLaren Sennas will be hand-assembled in Surrey, England, beginning in 2018. But unless you’ve got a cool million you’re ready to drop, don’t get your hopes up about owning one.
