Never let it be said that that the performance motoring community isn’t looking far into the future because the latest Lotus design study is all about the Lotus E-R9 Next-Generation EV Endurance Racer, an electric race car they’re building for the 2030 season. This dramatic new design includes an active aero package with “morphing” body panels and aerodynamic control surfaces, an EV powertrain with torque-vectoring that can be driver-adapted on the move and an overall design and experience that Richard Hill, chief aerodynamicist at Lotus, describes as “partly driven like a car and partly flown like a fighter jet.” As if that wasn’t enough, the already gorgeous and streamlined vehicle is made even more striking with its black and gold color scheme that’s a clear nod to Lotus’ pioneering motorsport heritage and their 13 Formula 1 championship titles. The Lotus E-R9 Next-Generation EV Endurance Racer is going to revolutionize the world of Formula 1 racing.
