Ever since its release in the early 90s, Toyota’s “Recreational Activity Vehicle: 4-wheel drive”–aka the RAV4–has been a classic because of the combination of SUV performance with compact car maneuverability and fuel economy. Concept artist Khyzyl Saleem has thrown all the compact car aspects out the window with his renderings of the Khyzyl Saleem Toyota RAV4 Rally Car Concept. As Saleem put it on Instagram, “This started out as a Pre-Runner type concept with the Toyota RAV-4, but slowly molded into this SCI-FI/Future take of one instead.” The front end got completely stripped and redesigned with a huge swatch of carbon fiber, and the back got a similar weight loss treatment. Add to that the enormous chunky wheels and tires for off-road performance–before you ask, the concept is billed as having air ride, so this is its lowest point–to complete the bad ass look. In our opinion, it’s Mad Max meets Need for Speed as visualized by the Gymkhana team.
