Hyundai has once again teamed up with a group of students from Turin’s renowned Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) to create a concept vehicle as part of a thesis program in transportation design. The recently unveiled Hyundai Kite is a doorless, roofless and windowless vehicle that most closely resembles a dune buggy from a futuristic video game. Built with a monocoque chassis measuring twelve feet by five feet, and powered by four brushless engines in the wheels, it’s a capable enough crawler to tackle all but the most terrifying dunes. The water’s edge is where the Kite gets really interesting though, as this capable buggy concept also converts into a single-seat jet-ski powered by a water jet turbine. Do you have to physically remove the cockpit, attach the engine and place it in the water? We have no idea. At the end of the day, it’s only a concept, so we’re happy just fantasizing about the possibilities.
