Ford Mini GT 40 Go-Kart

Ford Mini GT 40 Go-Kart

When is a toy not a toy but still the ultimate Christmas gift for a privileged kid? When it’s the Mini GT 40, modeled after the famed Le Mans racer that toppled Ferrari in the famed 24-hour endurance race back in the ‘60s. Built by French automotive enthusiast Francis Mortarini in 1968, the Mini GT 40 was sanctioned by Ford and has since been fully restored with new Gulf blue and orange livery from the Le Mans car. Don’t look for this diminutive racer to be a rubber roaster since it’s powered by a  9 horsepower Briggs & Stratton engine. The lights are new, and so is the leather-wrapped, small-diameter steering wheel. The roof pops off for its driver, and it can even fit an adult that’s neither vertically nor horizontally challenged. It’s up for auction between $25,000 and $35,000. The grin on your kid’s face this Christmas? Priceless.
