If owning a piece of automotive history that could potentially lay down some serious lap times is your thing, look no further than the 2004 Ford GT Prototype CP-1. The first functional Ford GT prototype—“technically” the GT40 race cars that dominated Le Mans don’t count—from 2004 has been dusted off as it will be rolling across the auction block at Russo and Steele’s Scottsdale sale in January. As if owning an original Ford GT Prototype wasn’t enough, this has plenty of exclusives you won’t find on any other versions. Carbon fiber rear. Steering column pulled from a Ford Windstar van (!). Air bags. Experimental exhaust. Silver trim rings on the seats. Gorgeous exterior complimented with signatures from the original design team including Shelby and Ford. The only real issue with the car is that it’s been fitted with a chip that limits top speed to 5mph. That said, we imagine anyone with the money to buy this could find someone to fix that problem.
