Ferrari’s New Monza Cars

Ferrari recently unveiled two new open cockpit models that combine the most advanced sports car technology today with inspiration from the iconic Ferrari models of the 1950s. The Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 are both gorgeous driving machines based on a monolithic form with an aerodynamic profile that, thanks to the use of a carbon fiber and the size of the engine, have the best weight-to-power ratio of any barchetta. The cars are almost identical except for the number of seats, with the SP1 having a tonneau cover and the SP2 having a second seat. As if driving without a roof and a windshield wasn’t terrifying enough, the Monza cars have “the most powerful engine Maranello has ever built”—a 6.5-liter V12 with 810 horsepower that can hit 62mph in less than three seconds. Unfortunately, according to The Guardian, “fewer than 500 of the Monza models would be produced” and “all of the Monzas have already been pre-sold to customers.”
