The Airstream trailer is a timeless piece that makes up for whatever it lacks in overall space with iconic design and clever use of space. One of the 10 Rides We Want to Travel the U.S. In got a serious upgrade by Edmonds + Lee Architects for a client that wanted a mobile office space. As Dwell reported, the project, “nicknamed The Kugelschiff (German for “bullet ship”), was for [the client] who wanted a mobile space where he could live and conduct business. ‘I needed space that would let me work from home, or anywhere I needed to be for meetings, and anywhere I wanted to be for inspiration.'” What does that all mean in practice? An incredibly bright space with a U-shaped meeting room with Maharam wool on one side that’s book-ended by a height-adjustable desk on the other side that converts into a bed. Add in a kitchen with hidden sink and refrigerator, modern technological amenities like Wi-Fi repeaters, Nest thermostat, cellular booster, cameras, etc., and you have a recipe for a mobile office that blows all other options out of the water. No word on pricing since the initial Airstream Bambi II conversion was a one-off, but we’re sure Edmonds + Lee could do something similar for you if the price is right.
