Citroën Ami One Concept

You love public transportation only because of the temporary freedom it allows you to space out, pass out, or tune out. But you still have to put up with waiting for the bus/train, finding a seat, and the dreaded B.O. that riding with hundreds of others can impart. Looking more like the love child of a droid and a kid’s Tupperware lunch box than a car, the Ami One is designed as a public transportation alternative that’s drivable in Europe in urban areas by anyone 16 and over and doesn’t require a license just like motorized scooters, but this time with four wheels. Inside the diminutive boxy coupe are a small steering wheel, 5-inch instrument screen, gearshift, smartphone charger, and a Bluetooth pairable audio speaker. The Ami One is a hair longer than 8 feet, has a 62-mile operating range and can hit 28 mph, so you won’t be setting any land speed records. Users can unlock it via QR code and use it in a unique leasing arrangement from 5 minutes to as much as 5 hours. The Ami One is also meant for carsharing, rental, and even purchase. Look for it at the Geneva Motor Show starting March 7th.
