Whether you’re talking cars, bikes or motorcycles, we’ve covered quite a few innovations over the years that have resulted in their users getting more power, speed or performance out of their vehicle of choice. There is perhaps no group of people more obsessed with that quest than the team at CeramicSpeed. Their latest innovation is Driven, a bike drivetrain unlike anything you’ve seen before that’s being billed as “the world’s most efficient drivetrain.” They partnered with the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Colorado to develop a pinion style drive shaft concept that utilizes 21 of their CeramicSpeed bearings and a 13-speed rear cog to create a system that creates 49% less friction as compared to traditional chain and derailleur setups. The system is 99% efficient overall and also happens to be part of a complete rolling prototype that’s no slouch in the futuristic design and performance departments.
