The late Carroll Shelby was one of the legendary figures in the automobile world. While getting your hands on a 1966 Shelby Cobra is next to impossible, you can still own something that was close to Shelby’s heart. Twenty-four cars Shelby owned are headed to auction at Bonhams Greenwich Concours D’Elegance on June 3. The highlight of the lot is a 1969 Shelby GT500, which is one of the most iconic muscle cars ever to spit asphalt. Other Shelby vehicles include a 2011 Shelby Cobra CSX 8027 and a 1999 Shelby 1. The auction doesn’t just include vehicles that carry the Shelby name, however; there are also rides that Shelby loved enough to own, like a 1935 Chrysler Airflow that is said to have come from the one and only Steve McQueen. The cars are all expected to carry significant price tags, but if you’re an automotive buff with a passion for the glory days of the American muscle car, this auction is where it’s at.
