When it comes to vehicles, the first thing that comes to mind when we think of hybrids is still a Prius. The technology has come a long way since then, and the Arquus Scarabee Hybrid Armored 4×4 is a great example of that. Recently unveiled at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, the Scarabee is the first natively hybrid military vehicle. Hybrid or electric vehicles are eerily quiet while in operation, which is actually a positive boon for this because it gives it full on stealth mode. Combine that with the thermal engine and you have boost mode. And then there’s the fact that it’s an armored personnel carrier with ballistic and mine protection, along with the ability to accommodate cannons, guns, launchers and radar systems. Oh yeah, it’s also built to be air dropped whenever you need to perform an air landed assault mission. In other words, it’s probably not a vehicle you’re going to be able to park in your garage any time soon. Here’s hoping civilians get the opportunity to purchase them in the future.
