As we’re sure you’re well aware by now, we’ve got a serious thing for properly restored vintage SUVs. Land Rover restorations will always be at the top of the list because there’s just something truly special about an old school Defender. English builder Arkonik–one of our favorites–is back with what may be the perfect beach cruiser in their appropriately named SoCal D90. Like everything else from Arkonik that has graced these pages, the SoCal D90 has upgrades and modern touches in all the right places–without sacrificing all the vintage cool and design ethos that made the original so good. The restoration of this 1989 Defender includes a list of everything you could possibly want: Java Black exterior, Camden leather interior, front heated seats, Pioneer Touch screen display with CarPlay, backup camera and Defender GPS security, 16″ Chawton White wheels wrapped in BFG All Terrain rubbers, full rebuild or recondition of mechanicals including a 5-speed manual transmission. It also includes a tan soft-top, but it looks so good with it off you’ll probably never use it.
