Screw that suburban-ready premium crossover you were about to buy. That thing is for sissies to drive to the strip mall to get an over-sweetened latte. The Ariel Nomad Tactical Buggy means to destroy that old life of yours and take you on off-road adventures at supercar speeds. This 2017 model is up for sale, and it’s glorious in all the right ways. The 233 horsepower Honda VTEC engine might not seem like much, but the lightweight 1,750-lb curb weight means there’s not much mass to move, rocketing the buggy to 60 mph in a wicked 3.5 seconds. Add in the vein of making a vehicle truly off-road capable, the Tactical version of the Nomad gets skid plates, sump guards, rally lights, and a winch added to the stock lot of components that include a powder-coated tubular steel skeleton, a six-speed transmission, fully adjustable Ohlins long travel suspension, and racing seats with full harnesses. Since it retails for a little over $90K, this sucker’s a bargain. Just make sure you read the entire manual, which we’re almost sure states it’s illegal to drive the Nomad Tactical while wearing a sweater tied over your shoulders.
