BMW Motorrad has updated the 2021 S 1000 R to make it lighter and faster than it already was. The mean Beemer is the recipient of a new, more compact “Flex” frame, an updated 999cc inline-four that has more power on tap at lower RPMs, adjustable handlebars, a lighter exhaust system, a new symmetric headlight setup, and the swingarm and belly pan from the S 1000 RR superbike. To make it even more ferocious, the new S 1000 R is a featherweight 438 lbs, the lightest in its class. The S 1000 R also gets ABS Cornering Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, a 6.5” TFT display, rain/road/dynamic ride modes, as well as launch, engine braking, and wheelie control. Upgrades for extra include adaptive headlights, a quick shifter, and an M Carbon package with lighter wheels that drop the weight even more. No pricing or sale date has been announced yet.
