2010 Land Rover Defender SVX “Spectre” SUV

For almost as long as we can remember, everyone’s favorite British super spy James Bond exclusively drove British, specifically Aston Martin. That changed for a few years–for the worse, if we’re being honest–but ultimately, Bond and his nemeses returned to their British motoring roots. This was most apparent during what would be described as the most ambitious and expensive Bond film yet–Spectre. The Aston Martin and the Jaguar were the showpieces for the chase scenes, but the real stars of the show were the Land Rover Defender SVX “Spectre” SUVs that the bad guys were driving. Those Land Rover Defender Spectre Edition vehicles were built around specifications delivered from the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations arm to Bowler Motorsport to be “fit for a Bond villain,” which ultimately included Santorini black coachwork, widened wheel arches, an external rollcage and 27″ high profile tires. A handful of years later, Bowler Director Richard Hayward commissioned many of the same engineers to build a vehicle in tribute to the Spectre Land Rovers, and that’s what you see here. It’s being auctioned off in all its glory during RM Sotheby’s Paris sale in about a week.
