There are quite a few really great vintage SUVs out there from almost as many brands if you’re willing to hunt for one. But the old school Land Rover will always hold a special place in our hearts because of the combination of style and utilitarian good looks. Now’s your chance to finally add one to your collection because this particularly interesting 1976 Land Rover Series III Rescue Vehicle is going to auction in a few weeks. This one ton, 6-cylinder, 109″ Land Rover is an original chassis number-matched truck with only three previous owners that, as you might have noticed, is built like a rescue vehicle for racing thanks to the tow/winch rig in the back. It’s described by the auction company as being “restored over a long period by the previous owner, restoration not quite finished but parts included,” which sounds to us like just enough work to be able to say we were the ones who restored it. The 1976 Land Rover Series III is estimated to go for between $23k and $29k when it rolls across the block as part of Silverstone Auctions Race Retro Classic Car Sale on February 23.
