It doesn’t matter which model you pick out of the two decades plus of production, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 will always be one of the coolest vintage SUVs out there. Unfortunately, that also means the classically beautiful and incredibly rugged vehicle is next to impossible to find without a price tag similar to what you’re find on a German sportscar. If you’re in the market for an old school Land Cruiser, today’s your lucky day thanks to Bring a Trailer. Up for auction is a 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 softtop model with approximately 21,000 miles on the odometer and a clean bill of health. Power comes from a rebuilt 3.9-liter 1F inline-six mated to a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case. It’s got Old Man Emu shocks and springs, a Weber carburetor, Recaro-style sport seats, aftermarket 15″ steel wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires, new Bestop softtop and even a fresh coat of dark gray matte paint. The only thing it’s missing is a bench seat or jump seats in the back, but that’s an easy enough fix.
