Own the 1966 Shelby GT350 Prototype

Barret-Jackson has been on a tear lately when it comes to pulling classic automobiles from the ether to offer up for auction, and this one is no different. Any 1966 Shelby GT350 would fetch a pretty penny at auction, but this one is particularly special. It’s not “1966 Shelby GT350H owned by Carroll Shelby himself” special, but we’re willing to bet Shelby did drive it at least a few times because this is chassis #SFM6S001 (aka the prototype). “Historic pre-production prototype” documented by the SAAC Shelby American World Registry should check all the boxes you need to check to get interested in this thing, but there’s more. It’s powered by a numbers-matching 289ci V8 engine and 4-speed T10 manual transmission. It features a Medium Blue vinyl top that was never made available as an option. It’s also the only Shelby GT350 that came with factory-optional Pony upholstery on the seats. How much are all those firsts and options going to set you back? If you have to ask it’s probably out of your budget, but we’d estimate this car brings around a quarter of a million bucks at auction.
