The Corvair’s “Unsafe at Any Speed” infamy lives on to this day, but there’s a special permutation of the much-loved and also maligned car that didn’t suffer the same ignominious reputation. The Corvair 95 Rampside pickup truck from the ’60s is truly a rare beast, and this “Big Orange” model is on the auction block at RM Sotheby’s. The Rampside is so named because of its side loading gate and step-down cargo bed. Clad in a Creamsicle orange and white colorway, it also has “Big Orange” painted along the bed side. It also has wire wheel covers, Deluxe exterior trim, and the larger 2.7-liter flat-six engine from 1964 for a whopping 90 horsepower. While it might not be a powerhouse, it is a special vehicle that’s not often seen today, and its joyful aesthetic is just what the doctor ordered.
