1956 Tony MV Go-Kart

We hope you didn’t bypass the part of childhood where you got to helm a zippy little go-kart on a track. The purity of tossing around a lightweight kart powered by a lawnmower engine is a fond memory and surely inspired the careers of many an auto racer back in the day. This rare Italian made version was built back in 1956 by Antonio “Tony” Bosio’s Tony Kart company in Prevalle. The MV Go-Kart was built about a decade after the go-kart was invented on a U.S. air base, and it’s a pretty piece of go-karting history with its red tube frame, thin fairing, and the half-cut racing steering wheel. The MV Go-Kart is clad in red, black, white, and silver and has a 6.2-horsepower, two-stroke 150cc MV Agusta engine mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. Though it’s no mini-Ferrari, its lightweight chassis enables entertaining speed and handling, while the full restoration brings it back to its original glory. The auction should command between $9,200 and $16,000, so the lucky winner of this piece of tyke motoring history should try to keep it out of the weeds.
